Em obras japonesas é exatamente isso o que acontece, muitas vezes por ordem da produtora/editora. Certos tipos de finais, como matar todo mundo ou matar certos personagens, dão prejuízo pois atrapalham a venda de produtos relacionados. A Sunrise adorava final assim e parou de fazer isso.
